NFB LQX Expansion Project – jacket and Living Quarter installation
On 22nd and 23rd February the Jacket and the Living Quarter structure installation on the North Field Bravo expansion project for our client Qatargas was completed.
The challenge of positioning these new buildings just 15m from the existing Living Quarter structure was successfully met.
The jacket weighing around 900t was transported from the shipyard to the installation site using the HLV Aegir hook belonging to HEEREMA Marine Contractors. Therefore, it was not necessary to use a cargo barge and a tug or to install/manufacture expensive grillages and lashings.
This choice allowed the verticalisation and positioning of the Jacket in just a few hours from its arrival at the site.
The Living Quarter structure weighing 3,000t was transported on the deck of HLV Aegir (DP Class 3 – split load grillage / main crane) from the construction site to the installation site where it was installed only 6 hours after its departure.
